TV, THEMES, ETC.

New Blink Kitty Love blog post where the band links to their favorite TV themes.

Continuing the TV theme, still loving Chuck, although it gets bumped on Monday nights by Top Gear, one of Gayle’s top 3 shows.

Wizards vs. Werewolves — nope, fail, not really any fun at all. Solve our problems by making the bad boyfriend and the actress we’ve put on another show go away. More substantive criticism? Ok. Well, exactly in the middle, I thought I’ve seen this dramatic pose around a fountain exactly in a soap opera (yes, there was soap opera watching at some point in my past; my mom was a General Hospital/One Life To Live fanatic and so were half the GUYS in my freshman dorm) and near the end, I thought straight steal from Buffy (the why can’t we date normal people moment). Flash was so bored she slept through it — which is good, no seizure from overexcitement. I find it really annoying that Alex so changes her personality for the boy of the moment, unless this is supposed to be an example of the standard girl experience, although they’ve spent a lot of time setting up Alex as a not so standard girl. And yes, Mason was a bad boyfriend but not enough time was spent on that either. They solved too many problems too easily and had too many plots in the air for one episode, even an hour long one. And I would have liked to have seen Juliet’s parents make an appearance again; they were fun. The we pay attention to plot and character pendulum swings back toward iCarly (after the successful iSaved Your Life). Nick’s doing a Secret Crush weekend…have been catching the odd True Jackson, and although it’s nice to see more of the school (and Mikey J), there’s a moderate sized hole where the manic fun that is the Mad Style staff used to fit. Caught another episode of Big Time Crush and didn’t enjoy it. Too much loud; too little character based humor. The guys are interchangeable and the having to shoehorn in the little sister plot really drags it down.

Did I mention Chuck is great. And The Big Bang Theory continues fun, although I am getting TIRED of Howard. Bring back Leslie Winkel, put him between her and the current girlfriend, have a little frank enough for television sex talk and let’s watch his brain shrivel (that’s as low as I’m looking).

Cool glass robots (thanks to Geek Dad for the link.)

MICHAEL JACKSON

Posted June 25th, 2009 in Animation, family, music, cats, entertainment, Blink Kitty Love, Twitter, Current Events

I’ve rebooted the Blink Kitty Love site and the “Guess or Sneak” lyric game and it’s a Michael Jackson tribute.

Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett –as I commented on a friend’s blog, that’s two major cultural chapters closed in one day. Condolences to both families.

I learned about both deaths on Twitter; they bookended my day. News like that flies around the Twitterverse. Tonight, I stood in front of my computer, said f**k, Gayle wondered what was wrong, and it took a couple of minutes for either of us to believe the news about Jackson. I had a flashback to the Jackson 5 cartoon — he had quite a career.

NOTE: We’re listening to the Michael Jackson songs I linked to and Flash has her paws in the air and is more relaxed than I’ve seen her in days…damn, he was good.

STAN THE ROBOT WORDLE

Posted June 8th, 2009 in family, design, Disney, cats, robots, entertainment, movie, Twitter, Shakespeare, Nick, #tamingshakespeare

Stan Lee’s coming to the

Pittsburgh ComicCon (I told you it was a a happening town.)

Robot TV from my robot mime friends at metroccolis.

There’s a cool word crunching turn ‘em into graphics program out there called Wordle (thanks to @alantlwilson for the head’s up.) Here’s a look at the blog and Taming of The Shrew. I also ran Kate’s speech through and as you can see, the dominant word is thy, which supports the advice to other people about their behavior theory. I’m going to run one of Petruchio’s speeches through next; I figure the real crux of their relationship is when they go off at the end of III ii, after the marriage. Here’s my Wordle gallery with all the acts and the two speeches broken down and the yes, names dominate because it’s a script, but Kate dominates as well and only Petruchio calls her that. So I think the key is in the Kates.

Anything else…hmm, you’ve been missing TV reviews. Flash’s new favorite show is “What I Like About You.” Wizards of Waverly Place is still rocking on the ensemble comedy front. So much fun, so fast, such great chemistry. I want the clothes that Horace Mantis High School requires you to wear on JONAS…the show is scoring massive points for style, Chelsea Staub, and the JoBros giving 1000% percent. I’m enjoying it — and occasionally having the Pizza Girl song drift through my head. Happy to hear Miley signed for a fourth Hannah season…kind of weirded out by the sudden Mitchell Musso as a singer push. Haven’t been watching iCarly much, but still enjoying classic episodes and Jenette McCurdy’s guest appearance on True Jackson.

And an exciting thing happened today; Gayle brought home the Eureka 2nd half of Season 3 preview today (thanks Mel); check back here for the preview review. And good night.

Here’s a sample Wordle:

Cartoon w/ weekend motto for you: RT@apelad Never consult a cat for advice on getting things done. Or a hobo, for that matter.

Beautiful art + funny; for more Laugh-Out-Loud cats (not the cheezburger ones), check out Hobotopia.
